Carl Pei has officially disclosed that the upcoming OnePlus 6 will have a notch on the top of the front side. According to Pei, the real intention of adding the notch in OnePlus 6 is to provide increased screen space coupled with a front camera and all the required sensors. The notch will accommodate front camera and sensors. If you look at the current OnePlus smartphones, you will find everything scattered on various locations. The notch will bring all of them together under a single umbrella.
Pei added that the notch will be designed in such a way to improve the functionality of the smartphone. moreover, it would be better than other competing smartphones. There are reports that the notch will have a dimension of 19.62 x 7.69mm, which is comparatively smaller than other competing handsets. According to GSMArena, the notch is smaller than iPhone X but larger than Essential.
You can expect small camera module resulting in low-quality images. OnePlus is well known for its ability to capture premium camera quality images. Hence, you can expect high-density selfies. The notch will also include microphone, sensors and notifications LEDs. According to rumors, the upcoming OnePlus 6 will provide support for face recognition and a fingerprint sensor that will be integrated with the physical home button.
Instead of a physical home button, the OnePlus 6 will have gesture-based navigation buttons. Moreover, the bottom portion will have more space to accommodate the display. You will not find any bezels on the left and right side of the device.
The reports coming from rumor mills indicates the fact that the company has given orders to suppliers to manufacture and supply spare parts including a notch for the handset. On the specifications front, the OnePlus 6 will have a 6-inch QHD+ optic AMOLED display, Snapdragon processor, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage loaded with Android 8.1 oreo.
We also expect 6GB RAM model at a low cost. the rear side will have a dual camera alongside a front-facing camera. The front side will be refreshed with a new design as mentioned above. The cost of the OnePlus 6 will be more than the current counterpart and will probably touch the Rs 40000 mark.
