The Department of Telecom (DoT) has extended pre-paid mobile services in Jammu & Kashmir, North East, and Assam Circles for a period of one year with effect from April 1, 2018. The department has published the required circular dated March 31, 2018, on its official website and it provides all the relevant information.
According to the circular, the Department of Telecom has decided to extend the permission granted for providing pre-paid mobile services in J&K, Assam and North East for a period of one year starting April 1, 2018. However, the service availability is subject to existing subscriber verification conditions, security conditions safeguards including penal provisions.
As per the guidelines, the existing roaming facilities between the pre-paid customers of these three areas and rest of the country will be available for the next one year. Moreover, there will be no change in the current restrictions on roaming between the pre-paid customers of J&K and rest of the country. It will remain the same during the next one year.
The circular issued by the Department of Telecom states that the validity of the pre-paid mobile services will be until March 31, 2019. The services won’t be extended beyond March 31, 2019, based on the circular with number 900-04/2013-AS.II dated March 31, 2018.
