Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 gets better with Android 8.1 Oreo update in India

HMD Global has started to push Android 8.1 Oreo update for Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 smartphones in India. In addition to Oreo update, the devices also got refreshed with the latest March Android security update. The new update will be available to the Nokia 5 for users in India and Indonesia.

The Android 8.1 Oreo update includes an optimized battery saving capability and the power menu has been revamped. Moreover, there are noticeable changes to the navigation buttons. The device will not show the battery percentage of the connected gadgets such as headphones, wearables via Bluetooth.

In addition to autofill framework, the update also includes Neural Network and SharedMemory APIs. moreover, the update also resolves bug fixes related to hamburger menu emoji and other related bugs reported by users previously.

Before proceeding to download the update, you should activate Wi-Fi connectivity to avoid interruptions during the download process. The company has made it clear that the update will be available only for users who activate Wi-Fi.

If you are eligible to receive the update, you will view a message notification. Alternatively, you can manually navigate to the settings menu to verify the presence of the update. It is also advisable to charge the handset up to 100 percent or connect the device to the AC power source.

While the total capacity of the update for Nokia 5 is 866MB, the size of the update for the Nokia 6 measures 933.8MB. There are no major changes to the user interface but you can expect improvements after the installation of the update.

To recall, Nokia 6 and Nokia 5 was refreshed with Android 8.0 Oreo update in January 2018. In March, the Nokia 8 also got the same Android 8.1 Oreo update.
