Hike has launched a light-weight and single login product called ‘Total, built by hike’. Total is a refined version of Android exclusively developed with the next billion people in mind. According to company sources, Total is a radical way to bring the next billion people onto Data with trending technologies.

With Total, you can access essential services such as Messaging, News, Recharge and more even without an active data connection. If you would like to work with data, you can do so with the help of the packs at as low as Re 1.

Total is developed around four key elements to provide a seamless experience. It provides a single login via the mobile number for all of the services such as Messaging, News, Horoscope, Recharge, Wallet, Cricket Scores and Rail (PNR status) information. The interesting point to note is that these services will consume less amount of data ranging from 100 kb to 1 MB to ensure lightweight footprint.

The services provided under Total can also be accessed even without data with the help of proprietary technology. The Total framework is developed based on the USSD protocol, which does the heavy lifting job of encryption, compression, and transmission of data. It will bring an uninterrupted experience to the users even with an active data connection.

As a user, you will be able to purchase Sachet Data Packs starting as low as Re. 1 from inside the Total with the aim to lower the cost of access and also to introduce people to data.

Hike has been working in close relationship with telecom service providers such as BSNL, Airtel, and the erstwhile Aircel to enable the USSD Technology & Data Upsell on Total. these mobile providers occupy nearly 40 percent of the market share. the company also established partnerships with Karbonn and Intex to pre-load the app on to its new devices. Some of the devices are Aqua Lions N1, Aqua Lions T1, Aqua Lions T1-Lite and Karbonn A40 Indian.
