Google Home Vs Google Home Mini Comparison: It’s all about voice

Google released the much-awaited Google Home and Google Home Mini on April 10. As the name suggests, the mini version is a trimmed model of the original Google Home. The mini version features a small speaker, while the full-blown Google Home is equipped with High Excursion Speaker system.

Google Home is a smart personal assistant capable of rendering news, music, entertainment including management of home lightings and appliances. You should ask each query with Hey Google command and the answers will be provided via Google Assistant. The music playback happens through Google Play music and third-party streaming services such as Saavn and Gaana.

The Home speaker is equipped with a high-excursion speaker with 2-inch driver coupled with dual 2-inch passive radiators. The speaker is capable of delivering rich sounds in a small form factor. The microphone makes use of advanced neural beamforming technology. The speaker helps in accurate far-field voice recognition using which you can invoke prompts even from a far distance.

Google Home is compatible with products manufactured by various brands such as Nest, SmartThings, Philips Hue, and IFTTT. The Home speaker has been aggressively tested under extreme noisy environments paired with applied machine learning to accurately recognize patterns. Google Home Mini also make use of Google Assistant to provide output. However, Google Home Mini uses a 40mm speaker driver, which is smaller than the full-blown Google Home. The speaker also provides support for far-field voice recognition, which helps you to issue commands from anywhere in the room.

Google Home Mini is a sleek and smooth device without any corners or edges. The speaker is manufactured using custom fabric material, which is durable and soft.The mini speaker is currently available in Chalk and Charcoal color variants with the imminent arrival of the Coral model. The circular shape is designed in such a way that it delivers 360-degree sound.

Pricing

While Google Home is priced at Rs 9999, the Google Home Mini will cost Rs 4499 and is available on Flipkart and offline retail stores as well. Flipkart provided freebies such as free JioFi router and exchange offers on the launch day. However, the offers are no longer available now but we expect some new offers on Flipkart within the next few days.

You will be able to enjoy free Google Play Music subscription until October 10, 2018. The speakers also come with free Gaana and Saavn subscriptions until October 31, 2018. If you purchase Google Home from Reliance Digital, you will get free JioFi router with 100GB of high-speed 4G data until April 30. If you buy Google Home Mini from Croma, you will be able to avail discounted price for Philips Hue.
