Apple is gearing up to extend the availability of the Apple Pay service in Norway, Poland, and Norway. This news was disclosed by Apple CEO Tim Cook during the routine earning’s call for the Q2 2018. However, Cook doesn’t reveal the exact time frame for the launch of Pay service. He only added that the Pay will launch in Poland, Norway, and Ukraine after few months.
Despite the launch of several competing digital payment services, Cook added that the Apple Pay continues to see strong growth among customers in various countries. Apple Pay posted record earnings for the year ended 2017.
According to iPhone manufacturers, the total number of Apple Pay activations have doubled when compared with 2017 and the total transactions have tripled. This means that users are making use of the system and there is a growing awareness about the real benefits.
During his interaction with stakeholders, Cook also outlined that Apple Pay is one of the most successful mobile transit payment systems in Toyko. The Pay mechanism has been adopted by logistics companies to ensure safe transportation of goods.
In addition to the US, the Pay service is available in the UK, Australia, Canada, Singapore, France, Russia, New Zealand, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Finland, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Japan, Ireland, Sweden, Brazil, UAE, and China.
We don’t have any information as to when Apple Pay will launch in India. With the Government strongly promoting digital transactions after November 8 demonetization, we can expect an imminent launch of the service. However, the Pay service will only be useful for tech-savvy users.
