Xiaomi is well-known for the manufacture of premium smartphones with excellent cameras. According to reports, the Lei Jun-owned company is reportedly planning to establish in-house exclusive camera department. An internal email sent by Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun to the employees reveals that they are gearing up to establish an integrated camera department to enhance the image quality.
The main intention is to enhance the image quality for the upcoming smartphones. There are reports that the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 will ship with camera sensors manufactured internally by the production team of the company. If you look at the Mi A1 and Redmi Note 5 Pro, the devices ships with improved camera sensors.
Going forward, the company would mainly focus on the photography segment on all the smartphones expected to hit the retail shelves by the end of 2018. The company needs to improve the technology to combat the intense competition.
If the company manages to establish an in-house department, then it will only focus on the photography, enhancement of sensors and addition of new features. However, it will take few days for the company to create the new department.
The forthcoming Xiaomi Mi 7 will ship with several new features specific to the camera. The device will ship with dual rear cameras comprising of 16MP sensors with support for 4-axis OIS and 2x optical zoom.
