BSNL is gearing up to bring smartphone capabilities to Landlines in Bundi and Hindoli districts of Rajasthan. The state-owned telecom provider is reportedly upgrading telephone exchanges in Rajasthan to integrate SMS, chatting and video calls functionalities for landline customers. The company is upgrading telephone exchanges with Next Generation Networking (NGN) technology.
According to BSNL Bundi district manager BK Agarwal, the remaining districts will be upgraded within the next few days. He added that facilities such as chatting, SMS, video calling and personalized ring back tone would be made available on all landline phones. However, you will have to upgrade your existing landline phone with an IP phone to avail the benefits.
Additionally, you will be able to avail the benefits of landline services by establishing connectivity via smartphone. The company is also upgrading 2G towers with Combo BTS to provide fast 3G connectivity. BSNL is upgrading 86 mobile towers, which includes 20 in Bundi in such a way to offer fast Internet services.
To recall, BSNL had established a partnership with Patanjali to offer SIM card at Rs 144 with free unlimited calling, SMS, and other capabilities. The company also introduced purchase of new plans via social media handles.
