Android P Beta 2 gets 157 emojis alongside gender-neutral options

Google rolled out Android P Beta 2 update with a wide range of 157 new emojis coupled with gender-neutral options. The new emojis include skateboard and lobster including redheads support. Moreover, the new beta also ships with a gender-neutral option for the family and emojis exclusively meant for couples.

It is to be noted that the new emojis exists in the Unicode standard and the company is only following the standard guidelines. In case a gender is not mentioned, a gender-neutral or gender-inclusive display will be used. The announcement of Google assumes importance with Apple launching a series of gender-neutral emojis in 2017. Going forward, all the upcoming emojis will be oriented and tagged as gender-neutral.

The Android P Beta 2 also brings in the salad emoji without egg alongside an improved version of pistol emojis. The aim is to reduce the impact of violence. According to sources, the Pistol emojis has been replaced with a water gun. You will also find new emojis for redheads, curly hair, white hair, bald people, birthday party, mango, yarn and a llama.

Google has already rolled out Android P Beta 2 for eligible smartphones such as Nexus and Pixel series. The update will be made available for all smartphones by the end of August 2018.

Before proceeding to download the update, you should establish connectivity with Wi-Fi and charge the handset up to 100 percent. If the charge is less than 50 percent, it is advisable to connect the device to AC power source to avoid interruption.
