Google issues apology to put the Google Home and Chromecast disruption to rest

Google has issued an apology after a sudden glitch in the backend system, which affected Google Home and Chromecast devices across the world. After the disruption, Google’s VP of Home products Rishi Chandra emailed to all Google Home customers with an apology.

According to Chandra, the product team noticed a glitch with one of their backend systems. It took a whole day to find out the root cause and solve the problem. The team worked hard to restore normalcy within a short time.

Interestingly, the Google Home Mini devices are working well without any problem The issue is with the Google Home, which ships with a large speaker. The functioning of Google Home and Mini are same except the size of the speaker.

He also added that the company finds it frustrating when technology doesn’t work the way it should when customers are depending on it. Google has already rolled out an update to resolve all the pending issues associated with Google Home devices and issued an apology.

Meanwhile, users took to Twitter and Reddit expressing disappointment over the non-functioning of Home and Google Chromecast devices. In case of Google Home, the voice assistant throws something wrong message. You won’t be able to view apps as castable devices in Chromecasts.

Google has issued an advisory to reboot Google Home devices to solve the problem. The company also pushed an update OTA within 6 hours, which will permanently solve the glitch. Google hasn’t revealed the exact reason for the downtime.
