WhatsApp Limits Forwards To Curb Fake News

WhatsApp has rolled out an update, which limits the number of forwards per message. As per the new update, you will be able to forward a message to only five people at a time. The move is being done to curb fake news and other content that incite violence and are in provocative in nature. The Facebook-owned company has come under widespread criticism due to the rapid spread of fake news through its platform.

The company sources disclosed that the latest update is currently available to 200 million users in India. If you are unable to view the new feature, you should update the current installation of WhatsApp.

After the installation of the WhatsApp update, you will be able to forward a message to only five people. If you attempt to forward to the sixth person, the system will generate a message that you can only forward to five people.

You can always go back to the original message and forward to another set of five people or groups. The end result is that you are prohibited from forwarding a WhatsApp message to more than five people.

It is to be noted that each group will have around 100+ members. Hence, the messages can be delivered in bulk even with the new update. The company should limit the number of members in a group to take advantage of this new feature. It remains to be seen as to how people will accept the new feature introduced by WhatsApp.
