Microsoft asks Windows 10 users to stay away from Chrome or Firefox

Microsoft always recommends their own software tools to boost productivity This is now evident with the fact that Windows 10 October 2018 update preview bits have reportedly started to warn users in the form of a prompt to adopt Microsoft Edge instead of installing Google Chrome or Firefox.

The presence of the message prompt have been traced inside the preview builds of the upcoming Windows 10 October 2018 Update. The message is being shown when users try to open another web browser. The message reads as You already have Microsoft Edge – the safer, faster browser for Windows 10.

Even though Microsoft has improved Microsoft Edge with additional features, the majority of Windows 10 users still prefer Chrome and Firefox. Microsoft is not at fault here because they are encouraging users to work with Edge, which is their own creation.

Companies have the right to motivate users to install a particular software instead of another competing tool. We can’t say whether this step will ultimately increase market share of the Microsoft Edge but it depends upon the users. We have found Edge to be faster and efficient than Chrome.

You will view two options such as Open Microsoft Edge in Blue-colored button and Install anyway. Moreover, you can also disable the warning message by navigating to settings page from within the message prompt. According to reports, the Redmond-based software giant won’t include this feature in the final build of the Windows 10 October 2018.

In the past, Microsoft had enabled desktop notifications regarding Edge and advised users to use Edge to check emails instead of other competing tools.
