Vodafone Idea has announced the launch of the Vodafone Eco Ponds 2018 for the Visarjan needs of Punekars in partnership with Pune Municipal Corporation & National Chemical Laboratory. The company has established Vodafone Eco Ponds at 7 Vodafone Stores in Pune city at NIBM, Wakdewadi, Aundh, Kharadi, Baner, Kalyani Nagar & Chinchwad link road.
The initiative is based on the Vodafone Eco Ponds initiative during Ganeshotsav 2017, which got a massive and resounding response. as many as 3100 Ganesha idols were immersed in 2017 without causing any adverse pollution effects.
According to estimates, over 75 lakh Ganesha idols made of Plaster of Paris, are immersed in water bodies in and around Pune at the conclusion of the 11-day festival. This leaves tonnes of non-degradable waste, which increased the presence of heavy metals such as mercury, cadmium and lead to 100X times. The Vodafone Eco Ponds 2018 will not only prevent pollution but also enable people to continue their social and religious practices.
Vodafone Idea has established Vodafone Eco-Ponds, which is a temporary water tank setup equipped with a promoter and a lifeguard at 7 Vodafone stores across the city. If you live in Pune, you just need to visit any of the store locations with Ganesh idols and you will be guided with the Visarjan process starting September 13.
The company has established 4 mobile Vodafone Eco Ponds in 2018 and also provides an option to supply them to various housing facilities so that people residing there can carry out visarjan in an eco-friendly manner.
