Xiaomi Opens Smart TV Manufacturing Facility At Tirupati, India

Xiaomi has started its own exclusive manufacturing facility for Mi LED TVs at Tirupati, India. According to company sources, the upcoming Mi LED TVs will be assembled and manufactured at its facility. Xiaomi has established a partnership with Dixon Technologies to manufacture Mi LED TVs at a manufacturing facility in Tirupati. The facility was inaugurated by state Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in presence of Xiaomi India CEO Manu Kumar Jain.

Commenting on the development, Naidu added that his vision is to make Tirupati an IT Hub. The facility will be a starting point for other leading electronics players to design and manufacture an ecosystem of electronics products. He added that he is excited to welcome Xiaomi and Dixon Technologies, who is the undisputed leader of Smart TVs in India to the holy city of Tirupati. The entry of MNC’s will set an example of transparent governance.

The company sources revealed that the new manufacturing facility will be able to manufacture 100,000 units of Mi LED TVs by the Q1 2019 and provide employment to over 850 people. The factory is spread over 32 acres of land.

The arrival of Mi LED Tv factory is after a successful stint of the company with the smartphones. The new plant will initially manufacture Mi LED Smart TV 4A 80cm (32-inch) and Mi LED Smart TV 4A 180cm (43-inch).

Responding to media, Manu Jain, Vice President, Xiaomi and Managing Director, Xiaomi India and that the company is the number one Smart TV brand in India. Moreover, they are gearing up to increase focus on local manufacturing. The company would be able to meet the required supply because of the growing demand and also to increase the market share of the Mi TV.

Xiaomi has established manufacturing units in Sri City (Andhra Pradesh), Sriperumbudur (Tamil Nadu) and Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The company also established its own exclusive power bank plant in Noida. Nearly, 95 percent of Xiaomi smartphones are manufactured in India and hence they are being sold at a discounted rate. The Lei Jun-owned company also entered into the smart home segment with the release of Mi Band 3, Smart Scale, Mi Air Purifier 2S and Mi Home Security Camera 360.
