Microsoft has become the second most valuable US company in terms of market capitalization. The Redmond-based giant has lost the position to Amazon in April 2018 and the company has now retained the position.
The news assumes great significance after the company posted an excellent profit on a quarterly basis. The main reason for this second most valuable US company upsurge is attributed to the rapid growth of the cloud computing business, where Amazon lost $65 billion when compared with the Windows manufacturer.
When it comes to the numbers, Apple tops the chart with over $1 trillion value and is followed by Amazon and Microsoft. Apple heavily missed the holiday season sales and the shares dropped 7 percent. Microsoft valuation is pegged at $823 billion, which is well above the $805 billion cap of the e-commerce giant.
We expect an announcement from the iOS manufacturer on November 1 because of the disclosure of the quarterly results. This will be the first results announcement after the release of the iPhone XS and XS Max and the numbers should be satisfactory.
The news of Microsoft attaining the second most valuable US company spot has sent cold waves among tech enthusiasts since the company is working hard to regain confidence among users with the new Windows 10 build. However, the latest update contains several bugs and users have expressed suspicion about the viability of the operating system.
