MediaTek has announced the launch of MediaTek Helio P90 processor with support for the next-generation APU 2.0 technology. The newly launched MediaTek Helio P90 processor has been manufactured using a 12nm TSMC FinFET process, which is capable of delivering 4.6 times more speed when compared with the previous counterparts.
The addition of APU 2.0 will enable you to improve AI processing to a large extent. The Helio P90 features an IMG PowerVR GM 9446 graphics processor, which offers 15 percent improved performance over Mali-G72 MP3 processor. It also comprises of dual ARM Cortex-A75 CPUs running at 2.2GHz and six ARM Cortex-A55 CPUs that runs at 2GHz.
Talking about the camera performance, the Helio P90 will provide support for up to 48MP camera including a combination of up to 24MP and 16MP dual rear cameras. It also offers support for up to 480fps slow motion video including the ability to analyze actions and poses of multiple people in real time. It is also possible to make use of AR avatars including the ability to shoot low-light images with bokeh effect.
The Helio P90 provides support for 5-person human pose tracking with 3D pose tracking, Google Lens and ARCore. It also provides support for face unlock with support for all major connectivity features such as 4G VoLTE, 4×4 MIMO, and Bluetooth 5.0 technology. The new chipset is currently under development and is expected to hit smartphones by the end of Q2 2019.
