Commenting on the development, Sanjay Gupta, MD, Star India disclosed that the company has always challenged conventions and been at the forefront of content reinvention in India. He added that the content needs to be reinvented due to the rapid explosion of smartphones in the country.
Gupta said that people are shifting towards mobile screens instead of television. The Hotstar Specials will create the biggest Indian stories delivered to a billion screens and has partnered with talents across India. The Hotstar Specials platform will enable creators to tell their most passionate stories and provide them unmatched reach.
The stories posted on the Specials platform includes a wide range of genres and formats and are available in seven languages. The unprecedented reach of Hotstar across the length and breadth of the country can be leveraged among both Indian and global viewers.
