Copytrack Releases Global Infringement Report 2019

Copytrack has released The Global Infringement Report 2019, which provides a detailed analysis of online image theft. The report has been prepared with the help of Copytrack’s proprietary website crawlers, which tracks illegal image usage.

The system developed by Copytrack is capable of running statistical analyses on more than 12000 Copytrack user profiles. The report provides a detailed assessment of the studies conducted between December 2017 to December 2018.

According to the study conducted by Copytrack, nearly three billion images are being shared online every day out of which 85 percent are unlicensed. This accounts for an estimated revenue loss of more than $600 million daily.

The fact is that many people were not aware that usage of the images created by others is a violation of copyright law. The usage of unauthorized images seriously hurts photographers and rights-holders since they lose a considerable amount of revenues. Copytrack deeply investigated where and how most online image theft takes place in a bid to create awareness among the people regarding the magnitude of online image theft.

Commenting on the development, Marcus Schmitt, CEO, Copytrack disclosed that the service exists for the reasons to catch illegal people uploading copyrighted images. Moreover, it will help the tight holders to enforce their image rights without the need of many efforts or financial risk.

As per Global Infringement Report 2019, North America is the most frequent offender of image theft with 33.90 percent of illegal use. While Europe comes second with 31.40 percent, the Asian continent is third in the spot with 29.38 percent.

The interesting point to point to note is that the US leads image theft by 22.96 percent and Panama country is marked at 6.76 percent. It is to be noted that Panama carries only four million inhabitants. Talking about China, the country occupies a paltry 6.57 percent, which is unexpected because China population is three times the size of the US.

The Global Infringement Report 2019 released by Copytrack also provides a list of top infringing cities, domains, stolen images sizes including Internet penetration. The images and photographs were used illicitly at a massive scale in each and every country on the Earth despite efforts by Yahoo and Google to hunt illegal people.
