With the rapid growth of apps and third-party software programs, there is a sharp increase in the malware attacks in Microsoft Windows. Moreover, the advancements in the technology sector also attributed to the malware attacks.
The company has warned that nearly one million Microsoft Windows computers will be at risk within the next few months on a large scale. The sources revealed that the attack will be higher than the WannaCry, which completely disrupted the computers of the MNC’s.
Microsoft has confirmed that the upcoming malware attack will be bigger than the previous instances and users should be aware. The warning comes within a few days after the Redmond-based software giant discovered a chronic wormable vulnerability in Remote Desktop Services for Windows. The company has advised customers to update the Windows to prevent the entry of the malware attack.
Commenting on the development, Simon Pope, director of incident response, Microsoft’s Security Response Center (MSRC) disclosed that the company is sure about the existence of an exploit for the vulnerability. However, the company released a fix two weeks ago and released it along with Windows 10 update.
The vulnerability will be developed in such a way that the code will run at the system level, which allows access to the computer. The data and all the relevant information will be fetched by the malware leaving the computer unusable. Sometimes, the vulnerability enters deep into the hard drive, which prohibits you from installing a new version of Windows. You will have to buy a new drive to install Windows.
We haven’t received any report about the emergence of the malware or worm. Pope added that this doesn’t mean that your computer is free from any attacks. It can be attacked anywhere and customers should be vigilant not to install any unauthorized programs or apps. The basic suggestion is that customers should update their Windows as quickly as possible to prevent any attacks.
If you are still working with Windows 7, Windows 8 or early builds of Windows 10, then you should update to the latest version of Windows 10. It is important that you should install Windows 10 only from the official website or using retail DVD. It is imperative that financial institutions should immediately upgrade Windows XP and Windows 7 to Windows 10 before the rise of the new malware.
If you are working with Windows 10, then you need not have to worry but it is advisable to update your computer to prevent any damages. You can’t take your computer for granted and hence it is advisable to work with the latest Windows instead of using an outdated operating system.
