Fossil has launched Fossil Gen 5 smartwatch pre-loaded with Wear OS at $295, which is a bit expensive. The main highlight of the Fossil Gen 5 smartwatch is the integration of a dedicated speaker coupled with enhanced battery life. Moreover, the watch is powered by a powerful Snapdragon Wear 3100 operating platform.
The Fossil Gen 5 smartwatch is currently available for pre-order in the US and EMEA regions. You have to wait until August 26 to purchase the watch. If you live in Asia, you have to wait for the next 3 months because the company has tagged it as coming soon.
Commenting on the development, Steve Evans, EVP, Fossil Group disclosed that the new model is designed to provide enhanced functionality for iPhone users. The company has made significant changes based on the feedback. Moreover, the Fossil Gen 5 ships with proprietary apps that offer an extended battery life alongside better iPhone compatibility then previous counterparts.
Under the hood, the Fossil Gen 5 carries 1GB RAM coupled with 8GB storage capacity that enables you to store music. The watch also bears a crown and push buttons that can be easily customized to launch any app. In addition to heart rate functionality, the Fossil gen 5 also provides support for the ambient light sensor, gyroscope, altimeter, accelerometer, NFC and GPS.
The Fossil Gen 5 smartwatch is designed in a circular shape with a thickness of 12mm for the case. The integrated speaker helps you to hear the incoming alerts including the ability to answer calls quickly. The watch is designed to deliver 36 hours of battery life including the ability to resist up to 36 hours under the water.
