Oppo has expanded its Greater Noida industrial park facility and increased the production of smartphones. The new facility is part of the first phase of the unit comprising of 110-acre industrial park. The new Greater Noida industrial park facility is currently manufacturing over 4 million smartphones per month. The company is working hard to double the existing capacity by the end of 2020.
Oppo will export smartphones to South Asia, Middle East, and Africa regions directly from the Greater Noida industrial park facility by 2020. The company has employed over 10000 employees across various departments such as manufacturing, quality assurance, and product testing. With the doubling of the existing production by 2020, the company is also planning to increase the employee count to 15000.
Commenting on the development, Sumit Walia, VP-Product & Marketing disclosed that the company is aiming to achieve dream of making India a global export hub with the increase in production. Moreover, customers within India need not have to depend upon Chinese market for smartphones.
The company would be able to offer smartphones at reduced prices. Walia added that Oppo will also push investment in the Hyderabad R&D center. The Hyderabad facility will play a vital role in the development of the upcoming flagship smartphones. The entire design work will be handled by the Hyderabad facility.
