According to reports, the Android 10 is currently available for all the eight Pixel handsets such as Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL. Interestingly, the Pixel and Pixel XL was not part of the update cycle but Google was kind enough to push updates for these phones in a bid to make customers happy.

The main highlight of Android 10 is the integration of a dark theme, which offers true black appearance instead of dark grey theme. Commenting on the development, Dave Burke, VP of Engineering at Google disclosed that the new dark theme mode will ave valuable battery life and can be activated from the settings menu. The smart reply functionality has been updated in such a way that it works across all messaging apps, Google Maps, and YouTube.

Google also introduced improved gesture navigation in Android 10 and has eliminated the back button. You can now swipe from the edge of the display to work with the back button. The left swipe menu can be opened using the Peak gesture. The Live Caption module automatically caption videos, podcasts, and audio messages.

The Android 10 also ships with improved security and privacy including the upcoming 5G connectivity. The apps will collect data only when you are working with the relevant app. You will find several options under the Privacy section. The newly introduced Focus mode helps you to select those apps that distract you from daily work.

Before proceeding to install the update, you should capture a backup of all your files from the existing smartphone. You can easily restore data in case if you encounter any problem or data loss. You should also charge the relevant compatible smartphone up to 100 percent and activate Wi-Fi. The update will be available via OTA. Alternatively, you can navigate to Settings | System Update | Check for Updates to check for the presence of the update.

We expect the availability of Android 10 for all other smartphones before the end of 2019.
