Xiaomi Mi Band 5 International edition rumored to ship with NFC support

Mi Band 5

Xiaomi is reportedly working to launch the next-generation Xiaomi Mi Band 5 by the first half of 2020 in association with Huami. According to reports, the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 will ship with NFC support outside China. This means you can expect NFC support for Mi Band 5 International edition. As of now, the NFC support is limited to Chinese versions.

If you look at the Mi Band 4 Chinese version, you would know that the band provides support for NFC and microphone. It remains to be seen as to whether the company will integrate a microphone on the Mi Band 5 Internation edition. We can’t rule out the possibility of Google Assistant support and you will be able to ask questions directly by tapping the band.

The main reason for rumored integration of NFC is because of the fact that many people are importing the band from China. Hence, the company has sighted the need for the NFC version in emerging countries like India as well. That said, you will have to pay more money to purchase the NFC version than the standard version.

The Mi Band 5 will probably ship with advanced features such as a larger display coupled with additional watch faces. You can also expect improved sleep tracking and heart rate monitor. The Mi Band 5 will be launched in May 2020 and will be available in both Chinese and International versions.

The Mi Band 4 is equipped with a 0.95-inch AMOLED display with support for Six G and heart rate sensors. The band also provides support for sleep tracking. The resolution of 240×120 pixels is sufficient to view the content on the display.

The embedded 135mAh battery is capable of delivering a standby time of over 20 days with 2 hours of charging. We had reviewed Mi Band 4 and observed that the band delivers superior battery backup than the competing Mi band 3 despite having a color AMOLED display. The band is manufactured using a combination of plastic and alloy material. The Mi Band 4 is currently available in India on Mi.com and Amazon.
