Installation

To work with Stellar Photo Recovery Professional, you need to download and install the trial version.

The next step is to activate the software with the license code you received after the completion of the purchase process by selecting the activation icon from the top navigation panel. The unlocking of the tool will enable you to work with all the features included with the product.

You can now start to work with Stellar Photo Recovery Professional and recover deleted photos from a wide range of devices. You should select “Recover Photo, Audio and Video” button to recover deleted files. You can also repair photos by selecting “Repair Photos” button.

Recovering Photos and Videos

If you would like to recover photos, audio, and videos, you should select the button with the caption “Recover Photos, Audio & Videos” from the dashboard. The software will now initialize and you will view a new dashboard with the caption “Select What To Recover“.

You can select the relevant option from the dashboard. If you had connected any external device, you will be able to view the entry. You can either select “All Multimedia Files” option or select Photos, Audio and Videos options manually. We selected Photos for the purpose of this review. The system will search for deleted photos from within your hard drive. You should uncheck “All Multimedia Files” option and then select “Photos” manually.

The next step is to select the source from where the photos should be recovered. You will view all the partitions inside your PC/laptop. If you had connected any external device, you will also view them. You should select the relevant source and select the Scan button located on the bottom right-hand side.

The Stellar Photo Recovery Software also provides a facility to perform deep scan in case if you are not satisfied with the normal scan. You will view the Deep Scan option only upon selecting the relevant drive. You just need to slide the radio button to perform this action.

The program will not start the scanning process and you will view the total time left to complete the process. The Stellar Photo Recovery Software – Professional also displays a progress bar in the form of percentage.

By default, the Stellar Photo Recovery Software – Professional displays the preview of the recovered files on the left-hand side as you can see from the above image. You can deactivate the preview capability by selecting “Turn Off Preview” option from the top side of the dashboard.

The total time required for scanning will depend upon the configuration of your PC/laptop. We worked with Intel Core i5 7th Generation laptop and it took nearly 25 minutes for the Stellar Photo Recovery Professional to finish the overall scanning. You will be able to view the confirmation dialog upon successful completion of the scanning process.

Recovering Deleted/Lost Photos

To recover a photo from the scanned result, you should select the relevant photo, right click and select Recover option from the pop-up menu as shown below.

If you select Recover option, the Stellar Photo Recovery software will display a dialog with the caption “Recover”. You can select a folder where the recovered photo will be saved by selecting “Browse” button.

Alternatively, you can also click on the link labeled “Advanced Settings” on the dialog. You will be able to compress the recovered file in ZIP format. It is also possible to select Recovery Options and can also add the relevant filters.

After selecting the folder where the recovered files should be saved, you should select “Start Saving” button. The recovered file will be saved inside the destination folder. However, you will have to choose another partition of your hard drive for the storage of the recovered file.

The Stellar Photo Recovery Software won’t enable you to save the recovered file on the same hard drive partition as the source drive. We would appreciate if the company removes this feature and enable us to save the recovered file inside a different folder on the same hard drive. You can also save the recovered file inside an external portable hard drive or USB drive as per your preference. The company should implement a feature for saving the recovered photos on the cloud such as Dropbox, OneDrive and Mega.

Repairing Photos

To repair photos, you should select “Repair Photos” button from the Stellar Photo Recovery Professional dashboard.

You will view a dashboard with the caption “Stellar repair for Photo” on the screen.

The next step is to click on the “Add File” icon. You should select an image from your PC or laptop. The resulting image will appear on the screen. You can add additional photos by selecting “Add” button located below the main screen. You should then select “Repair” button to begin the repair process. The system will display the progress as shown below.

The Stellar Photo Recovery Professional will display a confirmation message upon completion of the repair process.

You can save repaired files by selecting “Save Repaired Files” button located below the screen.
