Xiaomi is gearing up to launch Redmi smart speaker alongside the official launch of Redmi K30 on December 10 with an exclusively developed AI voice assistant. The company has confirmed that the Redmi smart speakers will launch in China coupled with the Redmi K30 smartphone. If you are thinking that the smart speaker will be powered by Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa, then you are wrong. This is because the Redmi smart speakers will be pre-loaded with Xiaomi’s voice assistant.
The main attraction of Redmi K30 smartphone will be the addition of 5G technology. The launch of Redmi smart speaker will set new benchmarks in the tech arena. If you look at the past history, Xiaomi has adopted a strategy wherein smartphones will be the first priority followed by smart TVs, laptops, routers and smart speakers.
Commenting on the development, Lu Weibing, VP for Xiaomi and General Manager for Redmi disclosed that the time has come to announce Redmi routers and smart speakers. The company hasn’t disclosed the specifications of the smart speaker and has made it super secret. There are chances that the new smart speaker will look identical to that of the Apple HomePod speaker with a mini display like Amazon Echo Show.
You just have to note that the smart speaker will carry Xiao AI voice assistant developed by the company. There are also reports that the upcoming Redmi K30 will be integrated with the AI voice assistant. To recall, the Redmi Note 8 Pro was shipped with Amazon Alexa voice assistant in India.
We don’t have any information as to whether Xiaomi will integrate Chinese AI or release the speaker for Global users. In all probability, the Lei Jun owned company will release the Chinese version of the smart speaker. The International edition will soon follow suit. The cost will be more or less similar to that the Amazon Echo and Google Home Mini.
In addition to the smart speaker and Redmi K30, Xiaomi will also probably unveil an exclusive router. The company had sold few routers in the past but they discontinued due to some reasons.
