Microsoft to end support for Windows 7: Here’s how you can upgrade to Windows 10

Microsoft will end support for Windows 7 from January 14, 2020. If you are still working with Windows 7, you have one final chance to upgrade to Windows 10. You should consider upgrading your PC or laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 10 since the older operating system is outdated and will pose huge security risks. You won’t get any support for Windows 7 after January 14. Hence, you will have to upgrade to Windows 10 immediately.

Microsoft is scheduled to stop support for Windows 7 since the Redmond-based company would like to focus on Windows 10. Windows 7 was released with the solid assurance that the company will continue to provide updates for 10 years since its initial release on October 22, 2009. The company had met the time schedule accurately and the assurance they provided to the customers.

You can also transfer photos and other files from Windows 7 PC to Windows 10. It is advisable to copy all your data available on Windows 7 PC to your portable hard drive or USB drive so that you can easily use them after the upgrade.

You can still work with Windows 7 even after the cut-off date. However, you will face increased security risk paired with other vulnerabilities. The company won’t issue any security updates in the form of patches or bug fixes. That being said, hackers will be in a position to steal data from vulnerable systems.

Microsoft will terminate Windows 7 support to focus on new technologies and next-generation computing. The technical support and software updates from Windows Update won’t be available for Windows 7.
