Xiaomi has reportedly filed a trademark petition for the flagship RedmiBook laptop in India. If the reports are true, you can expect the launch of RedmiBooki in India by the end of Q2 2020 and will be the first laptop from the smartphone major. The laptop will be expensive but will set new benchmarks in the computing segment. Xiaomi had launched RedmiBook 13 along with Redmi K30 in December 2019.
According to reports, a trademark listing for RedmiBook laptop has surfaced on the official website of the Intellectual Property India. The IPI is an agency for patents and trademarks under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. There are reports among tech enthusiasts that the upcoming RedmiBook will be priced at an attractive rate. Redmi is a sub-brand under Xiaomi and is well known for the manufacture of affordable smartphones.
With Redmi K30 expected to launch before Q2 2020, the company could also launch the much-anticipated RedmiBook. It is to be noted that the Lei Jun-owned company had launched both devices in China. It remains to be seen as to whether the company coupled opt for the Crowdfunding model for redmiBook or adopt the normal route.
RedmiBook 13 specifications
The RedmiBook 13, launched in China in 2019, is equipped with a 13.3-inch FHD (178-degree, 250-nits, 89% ratio) display, 10th gen Intel Core i5 and i7 processor, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD storage coupled with 2GB NVIDIA MX250 graphics card. Loaded with Windows 10, the 13th iteration of the RedmiBook provides support for dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0 and ports such as USB 3.1, HDMI and audio jack. The laptop also comes with Harman sound system with DTS support. The 40Whr battery is capable of delivering 9 hours of web browsing and 11 hours of video playback.
