MobiLine has announced the launch of the patented video caller ID app at the CES 2020 in Las Vegas. The app enables you to add a personal video message with your smartphone to important outbound phone calls. The receiver will be able to view and hear a trustworthy and familiar face before they decide to answer the call live or send the caller to voice mail.
After the installation of the app, you will be able to record up to a 15-second video greeting. You can then dial the phone number of your friend or colleague normally after you finish the recording process. The recipients will be able to view an inbound video introduction, which enables you to view and hear the face of the caller. You will be able to understand the content of the message before accepting the call live.
Commenting on the development, Stas Borukhoff, MobiLine CEO disclosed that the main purpose for the launch of MobiLine was to use video coupled with smartphones to strengthen the ties that bind us with friends and family. The app delivers huge value in our quest to fight against Robocalling and spoofing.
It is to be noted that Robocalling and spoofing are highly embraced by scam artists. Robocalling occurs when telemarketers make use of auto-dialing software to deliver pre-recorded messages. According to the YouMail Robocall index, there are more than 50 billion auto-dialed, unsolicited calls placed from January to November in 2019. This accounts to 167 million Robocalls per day in the US alone.
The launch of the Mobiline app assumes significance because President Donald Trump had signed an anti-robocall and anti-spoofing bill into law. The app will help you to fight against spammers. The app makes use of the video to authenticate a phone’s caller ID, which helps you to answer a call. Moreover, it will help billions of smartphone owners to regain control over their communications.
The company had invited several smartphone users to test MobiLine during the beta stage. The testers were powered by the ability of the app to help them take a stand against caller ID spoofing.
I receive at least three spoof calls on my mobile phone every day. It’s annoying and confusing, said 78-year-old Margarita Benson, a resident of Oakland, CA. When Benson receives a call and her iPhone’s caller ID indicates the caller is also located in the 510 area code, she very much understands that it might be another spoof call. She added that everyone should use MobiLine on their smartphones so that they can distinguish between friends and scammers.
Even though MobiLine was mainly developed for personal purposes, business establishments can also use the app to record a 15-second video. This will provide confidence among the people. The need for apps like MobiLine will increase with the emergence of 5G in 2020. The MobiLine will be officially launched for Android devices by early April 2020.
To recall, President Donald Trump had signed a law that imposes stiffer penalties on spammers and robocalls. It’s illegal to fake numbers on Caller ID to cause harm. The Scams and automated telemarketing calls from legitimate companies without permission are prohibited. The MobiLine app empowers smartphone owners to protect their outbound and inbound calls with video, which authenticates the identity and message of the caller.
