Microsoft rumored to replace Cortana in Windows 10X

Microsoft is reportedly working on a new digital voice assistant for the upcoming Windows 10X operating system. If the reports turn out to be true, you can expect a new voice assistant instead of Cortana. The news came to the limelight when a new developer job posting was spotted on LinkedIn. The developer will create a superior voice control experience for the PC systems.

The job details mention that the coding challenges will be high since this is a new application. The job involves taking advantage of conceptual services for voice command and control including identifying interesting components in the application context. The work consists of interaction with the entire desktop and Windows 10X within the scope of security and integrity.

However, the Redmond-based software giant is working on not only voice assistant but also voice control. You will be able to control the speed of the voice rendering, which is not possible with other competing smart voice assistants.

Windows 10 ships with Cortana and it provides information and news. However, the usage of Cortana by users is slim because of the availability of Google Assistant on Android smartphones. Even though Cortana is a highly popular digital voice assistant, users find it easy to work with mobile-based voice assistants like Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa.

With the rapid growth of Amazon Alexa smartphone speakers, people have been making effective use of them instead of Cortana. The decline in the consumption of Windows-based convertibles is also the main reason for the decline in the usage of Cortana assistant.
