Microsoft Extends Windows 10 Version 1809 Support Until November 2020

Microsoft has decided to extend support for Windows 10 Version 1809 Until November 2020. According to company sources, the Redmond-based software giant took the decision taking into account COVID-19 outbreak. Microsoft revealed that the product team is deeply engged with customers worldwide who are severely impacted by COVID-19.

If you are currently running Windows 10 Version 1809 that was released in 2018, you will receive all the updates until November 2020. The company sources attributed the extension as a result of the current public health situation across the Globe because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the Microsoft support page, the security update for Windows 10 version 1809, Pro, Pro Education, Pro for Workstation and IoT Core will be released on November 10, 2020, instead of May 12, 2020. Moreover, the company has paused Microsoft-specific feature updates for Home and Pro editions running on version 1809.

The release of new feature updates will be slowed down in anticipation of the end of service date on November 10, 2020. This is to provide adequate time for a smooth update process. With the extension of the expiration date, Microsoft has removed pressure from small and medium scale companies that are currently locked down due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The economy is declining globally and the recent move by Microsoft to extend support is a step in the right direction.
