Microsoft Surface Headphones Rumored to Ship with Head Tracking Capability

Microsoft is reportedly gearing up to launch the Microsoft Surface headphones with head tracking. According to reports, the upcoming Microsoft Surface headphones will be capable of delivering 20-hour battery life coupled with Bluetooth 5.0 support. The inclusion of head tracking will make the Microsoft Surface headphones stand out from the crowd. The news assumes importance with a popular tech portal spotted a listing for the Surface headphones on Bluetooth Special Interest Group portal. The addition of Bluetooth 5.0 is confirmed as per the listing details. You can expect improved performance coupled with less heat and enhanced battery life.

The upcoming Microsoft Surface headphones provide support for Qualcomm’s aptX HD audio codec, which provides support for higher-resolution audio streaming. The integrated IMU sensors will help in the detection and tracking of the head. The sensors simulate and change the way you listen to music and is often found in advanced headphone models.

According to Microsoft, the Surface headphones also include Dial buttons to adjust the levels of noise cancellation to three settings. You can tap and hold the dial to launch the relevant voice assistant without using your smartphone. Microsoft will most likely integrate Cortana.

The chances of Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant integration are bleak since the Redmond-based software giant will embed its own dedicated smart assistant. We are also not ruling out the possibility of possible integration of the headphone with Windows 10.

Talking about the launch, the Microsoft Surface headphone will find limelight by the middle of May 2020. The launch could be delayed because of the rapid outbreak of the COVID-19. There are reports that the new headphone will launch during the virtual Build conference starting May 19.

We expect the release of hardware products during the Build conference including a new Surface laptop. The Build event is a great place to showcase the features of the products. However, you won’t be able to test drive and experience the product physically like in the past. That being said, you can expect the arrival of Microsoft Surface headphones before the end of May 2020 if the rumor mills are to be believed.
