Xiaomi is reportedly gearing up to launch the next-generation Mi Band 5 with a punch hole display. The unofficial render of the upcoming Mi Band 5 has surfaced on the web. Upon inspection of the leaked image, we infer that the Mi Band 5 display will be Oval in shape. Xiaomi has integrated Oval design, which is different from the square design in the previous models. The launch of the Mi Band 5 appears imminent with the leak. Previously, there were reports of the launch of the band on April 3 and it has been reportedly postponed due to COVID-19.
According to rumors, the Mi Band 5 will ship with a punch hole display on the bottom portion. The large punch hole is visible in the middle of the display, which is awkward. The display also shows date, time, battery condition including mode of operation. We don’t have any information about the purpose of the punch hole but it could be camera.
We could see the battery level and the date is specified as May 2. The time is mentioned as 12.55 and we could spot a white arrow on the right-hand side. The punch hole appears larger and we don’t know the clear purpose behind the hole.
According to rumors, the Mi Band 5 will be equipped with a 1.2-inch OLED touch display with support for NFC connectivity. Moreover, the display will be color AMOLED similar to that of the Mi Band 4. The band also provides support for all standard health fitness parameters including sedentary reminder.
The band will also include continuous heart rate monitor. We have to wait and watch whether Xiaomi will integrate the Temperature module on the band because it’s one of the hottest topics due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The punch hole will probably include an NFC sensor so that you can initiate payment just by showing the band over the counter. The band will also provide support for Google Pay along with a host of other features.
The Mi Band 5 is rumored to cost CNY 179, which equates to INR 1840. The Mi Band 5 will probably be available for sale from June. However, the India launch could be delayed due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
