Microsoft Pushes Windows 10 Build 19628 for Windows Insiders in Fast Ring

Microsoft has rolled out Windows 10 build 19628 for Windows Insiders in the Fast ring. If you are part of the fast ring Windows Insider program, you will be able to download and work with the update. The Windows 10 build 19628 is basically a minor update with a few new improvements and a single bug fix.

The Windows 10 build 19628 adds support for DNS over HTTPS, using which you can opt into using encryption when Windows 10 makes DNS queries. The update also fixed an issue that causes update failure with error code 0xc0000409. Microsoft has advised users to file feedback in Feedback Hub if you continue to experience the error even after the update.

You will face issues with the navigation and reading of web content using Microsoft Edge Chromium. The product teams are aware of these issues. However, users of legacy Microsoft Edge will not be affected. The Windows 10 users have been experiencing problems during the update process. There are reports that the update process hangs for an extended time when attempting to install a new update.

Microsoft is currently working to fix an issue associated with a broken icon located adjacent to the Settings | Privacy the Documents and Downloads section. Microsoft is also working to resolve IIS configuration issue after the installation of a new build. You should capture a backup of your IIS configuration and restore it after the successful installation of the new build. If the Taskbar preview thumbnails are not rendering properly, then the issue will be resolved immediately.

The Windows 10 build 19628 for fast ring insiders is being pushed from the new “MN_RELEASE” development branch. However, the product team reveals that this is a temporary change. The “RS_PRERELEASE” branch will be used again to ship new builds to Fast Ring Insiders. Microsoft is currently prioritizing specific branches and hence they are moving Insiders. This is a temporary phenomenon since the engineers internally work in various development cycles.
