Microsoft Surface Duo Specifications Leaked on the Wild

Microsoft is gearing up to unveil the next-generation Microsoft Surface Duo. The specifications of the upcoming flagship Microsoft Surface Duo have been leaked in the wild. According to reports, the Redmond-based software giant is currently testing Surface Duo among internal team members.

The rumors point out the fact that the Surface Duo will have dual screen placed equally. There will be a 360-degree hinge between the two displays. When opened the new Surface device will be 4.8mm thin, while the thickness upon shutting down will be 9.6mm.

The Microsoft Surface Duo will be divided into equal proportions of 5.6-inch each. The company has integrated an AMOLED display with a resolution of 1800×1350 pixels on each display. The display features a 4:3 aspect ratio coupled with 401PPI.

Upon inspection of the renders, we infer that the top and bottom bezels are comparatively larger than the latest generation smartphones. Interestingly, the Microsoft Surface Duo is pre-loaded with Android 10 with a scheduled update to Android 11. Microsoft has added support for Surface Pen stylus. There is a possibility that Microsoft coupled ship the upcoming Surface Duo with both Windows 10 and Android 10 platform in a dual boot mode.

Under the hood, the Surface Duo gets adequate power via Snapdragon 855 processor, 6GB RAM paired with 64GB and 256GB internal storage. You will have a choice to opt for either 64GB or 256GB storage. Unfortunately, you will not be able to extend the storage via microSD card slots. The camera offers an 11MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture.

The device enables you to unlock using the integrated fingerprint sensor. The Surface Duo will have one USB-C port and nanoSIM card slot. The device draws power probably via a 3460mAh battery, which delivers a normal backup time. The product package will ship with Surface Pen.

The disappointing point to note is that the tablet will not provide support for NFC, wireless charging, and even 5G connectivity. Microsoft should try to include 5G support so that people will find value with the device. We don’t know why Microsoft has loaded Android on the Surface device. We feel that it should be to attract Android users globally. It is to be noted that Android users form a significant marketplace with the absence of any competing mobile operating platforms.

We don’t have any information about when Microsoft will launch Surface Duo. However, the reports from the rumor mills state that it could be by the end of 2020. The delay could be due to the eruption of the COVID-19 outbreak globally.
