Facebook rolls out Messenger Rooms with a host of fun features

Facebook has officially launched Messenger Rooms with a wide range of new features and improvements. The Messenger Rooms will be useful for those who are planning to conduct house parties among their friends and relatives. The ultimate purpose is to enable people to make fun video calls.

The Messenger Rooms also include a wide range of fun games, which you can play with your friends on a group call. With the lockdown in place in several countries, people are now depending upon video calls to establish contact with their friends.

Prior to Facebook Messenger Rooms, we had worked with Zoom, Google Meet, and Skype. However, the Messenger Rooms have thrown open doors for social partying with the addition of AI effects. You can decorate the face of your friends with funny effects including the ability to adjust lighting. The interesting fact is that you can drag and drop your chat window to any corner. The person you are trying to call will appear on the bigger portion of the display.

The entry of Messenger Rooms will provide a tight competition among the likes of Google Meet, Zoom, and Houseparty. We worked with the app for a while and found it to be interesting and funny. Moreover, you can use the tool to conduct important office video calls. Moreover, students can make use of the app for year-end social parties.

With the help of the Messenger Rooms, you will be able to play fun games with your friends while on a group call. As of this writing, the Rooms option is only available in Messenger. However, Facebook has announced that they will be adding a shortcut to Messenger Rooms to WhatsApp and Instagram Direct. This will help users who are not using Facebook to work with the tool.

Creating Rooms

You can either interact with your friend directly or create a room comprising of several friends. Facebook provides support for up to 50 friends to be added to one single room. To create a room, you just need to select “People” option and select “Create a Room” option located on the top of the page. The room will be created instantly. You should then select “Share Link” Blue-colored button to generate and share the link. You will view the link information. You can easily copy the generated link and share on Messenger, Instagram, and other social media platforms.

You can adjust the visibility options by selecting “Edit” button. By default, people with the link will be able to access the video conversation. You can also choose to let only people on Facebook to access the conversation. The advantage of the Messenger Rooms app is that it provides support for up to 50 participants instead of 8 on WhatsApp.

Messenger Rooms

Even if you don’t have access to Facebook or Messenger, you will be able to work with the Messenger Rooms tool. There is no need to download the app to use the tool. Moreover, the Messenger Rooms can be used on both smartphones and PC. However, you will get an excellent user experience with Android 10 smartphones.

The host will have access to several functionalities such as the ability to lock or end room including removal of participants. You can also share screen similar to Zoom. The Sharing screen capability enables you to view the device screen of other users. You can also apply effects and adjust lighting. It is also possible to change background identical to that of the Zoom. You can also record the entire call by clicking on the Start broadcast option. However, enabling this option activates Do Not Disturb mode to avoid unwanted notifications.

Facebook has added a wide range of privacy features to ensure the safety and security of the Messenger Rooms. The app helps you to lock a room including removing participants that don’t behave, leave, and report. You can also block a user from using the app.

The link is designed in such a way that it will be difficult for hackers to guess because of the combination of random characters and digits. Moreover, the alphabets are given in different cases. You should note that the chats conducted via Messenger Rooms are not encrypted similar to WhatsApp. The main reason is because of the challenges involved with a large number of people.  Facebook will continue to add more features to Messenger Rooms.
