Xiaomi is gearing up to launch the much-anticipated next-generation Mi Band 5. The trending features and specifications of the upcoming smartwatch have surfaced on the rumor mills. According to Tizen Help, the Mi Band 5 was spotted on the Taiwanese certification website.
The rumor mills reveal that the band will provide support for Amazon Alexa along with SP02 tracking. The addition of Amazon Alexa voice assistant on the upcoming Mi Band 5 is not a surprise because the Redmi Note 8 Pro was shipped with Alexa support. Moreover, Xiaomi will be the first company to integrate Alexa smart voice assistant on a fitness tracker.
If the rumor turns out to be true, you can fetch information from Amazon Alexa via the Mi Band 5. You can also manage other Alexa-enabled devices directly using your Mi Band 5. It is also possible for Alexa to read fitness statistics such as sleep tracking, steps, and much more.
The Tizen help also reveals the fact that the upcoming Mi Band 5 will also include Blood Oxygen (SpO2) and menstrual cycle tracking respectively. The cycle tracking will be useful for women who would like to keep track of their monthly periods. We also expect the addition of a thermal sensor with which you can monitor your body temperature when the whole world is going through a tough phase of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As per the rumor mills, the Mi Smart Band 5, which is the global variant will not ship with support for NFC. The band will provide support for Mi Pay system. The reports suggest that the Mi Band 5 will carry a large color AMOLED display with the ability to charge the fitness tracker quickly. The Mi Band 5 was shipped with a separate charging dock.
The Lei Jun-owned company will most likely provide a facility to charge the band directly by connecting to the USB port. The company will also roll out a refreshed Mi Fit app with enhanced sleep tracking and heart rate monitoring functionalities. Xiaomi will also most likely integrate a smooth watch strap along with the Band 5. That being said, you should accept the above facts only with a pinch of salt since there is no official confirmation.
