Xiaomi is gearing up to release Mi Band 5 fitness tracker in China on June 11. The next-generation Mi Band 5 has been certified and the launch has been confirmed by Xiaomi. The Mi Band 5 will launch in China along with other accessories during the upcoming 618 sale event. The features of the Band 5 have been leaked online.
According to rumors, the Mi Band 5 will be equipped with camera control support with the capability to capture images and videos. Moreover, the band display also includes a single button integrated into the display. We don’t have any confirmation about whether the leaked design is true or not.
Improved display
The Mi Band 5 will ship with a 1.2-inch display with several new colorful watch faces. The band will also include several tracking modes such as running, cycling, skipping, swimming, and much more.
There are reports that Xiaomi will also additional modes such as Yoga and Indoor cycling. It is to be noted that the recently released Realme Band was also shipped with Yoga and Cricket mode respectively.
Voice assistant support
The main highlight of the Mi Band 5 will be the inclusion of Amazon Alexa voice assistant using which you can fetch answers to queries. However, this feature will be available only for customers outside China. The band also provides support for NFC and Google Pay. If you are in China, you will be able to access XiaoAI voice assistant. Xiaomi is also expected to refresh Mi Fit app, which is used to sync data from the band. The sleep tracking analysis is expected to improve.
The teaser released by Microsoft reveals Mi Band 5 along with a mini speaker touted to ship with AI support. While Xiaomi reveals the price of the AI speaker at CNY 349, we will know the price of the Mi Band 5 only after the launch event. We expect the band to cost between $50 to $55, to begin with. Like in the case of the previous editions, the price of the band will decrease in November 2020.
