Microsoft has added advanced features to the Microsoft Edge web browser. The Microsoft Edge has been updated with Windows Spell Checker and a wide range of other related features. The Windows manufacturer had added support for Windows Spell Checker for both the Chromium-based Edge web browser and Google Chrome.
As part of the new spellchecker integration, email addresses, URLs and other common words won’t be counted as errors. Moreover, the spellchecker also provides support for hashtag and acronyms such as COVID-19, which is the latest trending keyword on the web.
To activate Windows Spellchecker in Chrome 83, you should navigate to chrome://flags/#win-use-native-spellchecker and enable to experimental flag. You should relaunch the browser to let Chrome complete the process.
Microsoft also released a new update for Microsoft Edge Dev with version number 84.0.522.5, which is reportedly the final build for Edge 84. We expect Edge 85 to be made available for testers in the Dev branch. Microsoft Edge Dev Build 84.0.522.5 for Windows and macOS ships with several improvements, which includes support for Read Aloud functionality in PDFs. Moreover, the dev build also includes a full-page translation in an immersive reader. Microsoft also revealed that they have fixed an issue related to the non-playback of the HEVC. The problems related video hanging are also resolved.
The Microsoft Edge Dev Build 84.0.522.5 has fixed an issue where the “Save As” dialog pops-out everything you save an edited and saved PDF file. The file once saved should have a silent save but here reverse happens. Microsoft has resolved an issue where the Find on Page popup gets stuck.
The problems pertaining to history entries in the Jumplist, Favorites Bar, Keyboard shortcuts, browser profiles, Read Aloud and autofills popups have been resolved. You will be able to download and install Microsoft Edge Dev from the official website. Microsoft will continue to release several iterations with new features and bug fixes on a continuous basis.
