Microsoft Teams rumored to get reloaded with 49 meeting participants

No doubt, Zoom is a powerful video conferencing solution. Microsoft Teams will soon provide Zoom with a shocker. According to reports, Microsoft Teams will soon provide support for 49 meeting participants just like Zoom. The growth of video conferencing apps like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, WhatsApp has been phenomenal with the COVID-19 pandemic. With schools closed globally, teachers have been making effective use of Zoom and Microsoft Teams to impart quality education.

Microsoft recently updated Microsoft Teams to provide support for up to 9 participants during video calls. The messaging platform Skype was also updated. According to Jared Spataro, CVP of Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams will match Zoom’s capability to offer 49 participants per single screen. However, he declined to provide any estimated time frame.

If Microsoft manages to offer 49 meeting participants support to Teams, then it will set new benchmarks in the video conferencing segment. Zoom has been banned in several countries due to security and privacy concerns.

The Indian Government also issued advisories for Government departments and agencies not to make use of the Zoom platform for video conferencing. The reports suggest the fact that the Redmond-based software giant will continue to push several iterations of Microsoft Teams, which will outclass the rivals Zoom.

Microsoft has reportedly sent over 50 staffers to enable New York School district to transition from Zoom to Microsoft Teams. The company has been providing training to the administrators and school teachers across the New York school district to enable them to use Microsoft Teams and leverage the rich features included with the software. Microsoft has integrated features such as the ability to display several people on the screen simultaneously. The raise-your-hand button functionality also has been implemented across Microsoft Teams.

With intense competition, Slack CEO recently revealed that Microsoft has been following an unhealthy competition that’s killing their core business. However, the Windows manufacturer is not really copying any feature offered by Slack.

Even after Facebook copied SnapChat’s stories feature, the overall market share of Snapchat hasn’t declined. The main advantage of Microsoft Teams is that the app is included with Microsoft 365 subscriptions. Hence, enterprise customers with access to Microsoft 365 will be able to take advantage of the Teams instead of Slack or Zoom. Going forward, we can see the steep growth of Microsoft Teams and related video conferencing software.
