Microsoft is gearing up to unveil the much-anticipated Surface Duo before the end of July 2020. Zac Bowden aka @zacbowden, who usually contributes content for Windows Central took to Twitter and disclosed that the Microsoft Surface Duo will find limelight before August 5.
He seems to have significant inputs from internal sources that Microsoft is planning to release Surface Duo before the arrival of Galaxy Fold 2. He also added that August 5 could be the deadline date and we are getting closer to the launch. According to Bowden, the Microsoft Surface Duo could start shipping in less than 2 months if the rumors are to be believed.
I’m told Microsoft wants to launch Surface Duo before the Galaxy Fold 2 is announced. So, before August 5th? We’re getting close. Assuming plans don’t change, Surface Duo should start shipping in less than 2 months.

The dealy in the launch of the Microsoft Surface Duo could be due to the closure of factories due to COVID-19 pandemic. The outbreak has forced the company to postpone the Windows 10X launch. The primary reason is attributed to the shut down of offices across the globe. The employees have been working from home and it’s not easy to release a finished product under the remote work environment.
Even though we anticipate the launch of Surface Duo before July or early August, the launch could also be held earlier depending upon the circumstances. The company will find it tough to mass-produce the product because of the uncertainty over COVID-19 scare. There are reports that China is on the edge of the second wave of COVID-19. Microsoft is currently working to launch the new device before Galaxy Fold 2, which is scheduled to launch on August 5.
We can expect an announcement from Microsoft within the next few days if Bowden’s predictions were found to be true. With the leak of the release date, Microsoft is probably on the verge of creating a hype among tech enthusiasts. We don’t have any official confirmation about the exact date of the launch. You should accept the above facts only with a pinch of salt. There is a possibility that Microsoft could change the release date to November 2020, just before the holidays.
