Microsoft Resolves the Broken USB Printer issue in Windows 10 2004

Microsoft has fixed the broken USB Printer issue in Windows 10 2004 version. Previously, the Redmond-based software giant had released patches for Windows 10 version 1803, 1809, 1903 and 1909. However, they omitted the patch release for Windows 10 2004 version due to undisclosed reasons. Microsoft has now released a fix, which resolves the broken USB printer issue by releasing KB4567523. The Windows 10 build will jump to Build 19041.331 after the installation of the patch.

According to the changelog, the patch addresses an issue that might prevent certain printers from printing properly. The print spooler could either generate an error or close unexpectedly while attempting to print. Hence, you will not be able to extract any output from the affected printer.

You will also face problems with the apps that you are attempting to print from. This includes throwing an error or the app could close unexpectedly. The broken USB printer issue will also affect software-based printers including printing to PDF.

According to Microsoft, some apps make use of the ImeMode property to manage the Input Method Editor (IME) mode for individual text entry fields, which enhances typing efficiency. It has been noted that some IMEs in Windows 10 version 2004 is having problems using the ImeMode property with certain apps.

There are instances where the input mode will not switch automatically to Kanji or Hiragana. Microsoft will probably bundle the patch to resolve the USB broken printer issue in an upcoming release. You can download the patch to fix the broken USB Printer issue from the official Microsoft site. Alternatively, you can verify the presence of the updating by navigating to Settings window.
