Microsoft has released an enhanced version of Skype for Windows 10 based on the Electron Framework. The Redmond-based software giant has disclosed that Skype for Windows 10 and Skype for Desktop is being merged to provide a consistent experience. The new Skype for Windows 10 provides updated close options, which enables you to quit and stop Skype from starting automatically.
The new Skype for Windows 10 ships with an improved Tray icon, which displays information about new messages and presence status. You can share files directly from your Windows 10 File Explorer. Skype provides the capability to include 9 videos in a video call. Some of the other advanced features are background replacement, moderated chats including Meet Now improvements. You will be able to experience improved performing while on a call.
Even though Microsoft claims that they have retained all the features of the existing version of Skype, you will find some missing features and functionalities. The company has designed the new feature to enhance the Skype experience while working with Windows 10.
Microsoft is yet to provide support for the Share Charm in addition to Microsoft Outlook contact synchronization. Microsoft is planning to add advanced functionalities such as Interactive Notifications. Going forward, we can expect the addition of several new features and functionalities.
