Indian Railways has entered into a partnership with Microsoft to establish connectivity with employees. As part of the initiative, Microsoft will provide a six-month free trial of the Microsoft Teams platform to connect with over 15000 employees across the network. The subscription will be provided from June 15, 2020, to December 14, 2020.
According to Railway Board, Microsoft Teams will provide support for various Railway establishments to ensure social and physical distancing. The platform will enable you to avoid traveling and experience work-from-home in the midst of the growing eruption of the COVID-19 outbreak. The Teams platform will be useful to collaborate and communicate with Railway officials.
The Railway officials will make use of the Microsoft Teams platform to organize discussions, share files, audio, video including working with documents such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The Railways has done modifications in such a way that communication between the employees should be seamless. The employees will be divided into a unified domain and then into sub-domains.
Microsoft is involved in the creation of unique use identities. Moreover, the company is also creating a quick start guide for the railway employees to enable them to learn the usage of Teams quickly. The Railways will also leverage the full potential of unlimited chat, search, video calling, file storage including real-time collaboration with the office.
As a precautionary measure, Railways have asked all the employees to make use of e-files to avoid physical touch of receipts and documents. This move is to prevent the spread of COVID-19 through papers touched by several people. Moreover, the relevant directions are also issued to conduct meetings and presentations via one.
The Redmond-based tech giant is confident that Microsoft teams will be a one-stop solution for the proper implementation of new measures to tackle the menace of COVID-19. Moreover, the adoption of Windows 10 by the employees in sync with the Teams platform will boost productivity and security among the whole network.
