Aarogya Setu, the COVID-19 contact tracing app developed by NIC eGov Mobile Apps under Government of India, has been upgraded with the ability to delete user accounts. The Aarogya Setu app also provides an ability to share health data with other health apps.
With the help of the Aarogya Setu app, you can also access COVID-19 risk level based on your Bluetooth contacts. You can enable apps to access your health data under Settings and Approval for Aarogya Setu Status option. If you enable this option, then other third-party apps will be able to access data generated from the app.
To access the new features, you should update Aarogya Setu app if you had already installed the app. After that, you can delete your account from the app permanently. The catch is that your data will be deleted from your smartphone. However, the data will be deleted from the Government servers only after 30 days. If you delete your account, the system will erase all your app data from the smartphone.
You can delete your Aarogya Setu app account by following the below steps
- Install Aarogya Setu app or Update the app if you had already installed it.
- Select the three horizontal lines from the top left hand side
- Select Settings option
- Select Delete My Account option. The app mentions that you can permanently delete your account and wipe all data by following this step.
If you select “Delete My Account” option, you will view a new page where you will be able to view the list of disclaimers. The app mentions that the data will delete from the Government servers after 30 days. You have to provide your mobile number to delete your account from your smartphone.
The Aarogya Setu app data will be deleted from your smartphone. It will take up to 30 days for the data to get deleted from the Government servers. If you are not willing to work with the app, you can delete the data.
The Aarogya Setu provides crucial information about the current status of the COVID-19 including the steps to be taken. You can also perform self-assessment and know the analytics up to 10 km from your proximity location. The new features are now available on the Android app. You can expect an update for the iOS platform within the next few days.
