Xiaomi Launches Mi TV Stick With Google Data Saver: All you need to know

Xiaomi has launched Mi TV Stick in India and will be available on Flipkart. The Mi TV Stick ships with Google’s Data Saver module, which keeps track of the data usage. You will know how much data is consumed during the streaming process.

It’s interesting that Xiaomi has established a partnership with Flipkart because Amazon has their own streaming stick. The TV Stick provides support for FHD streaming loaded with Android TV 9 operating platform. The Mi TV Stick will be available for purchase on August 7 at 12 PM via Mi.com, Flipkart, and Mi Home stores. You will have only one color choice, which is Black.

With the help of the Mi TV Stick, you can convert your existing conventional LED TV to Smart TV via HDMI port. You can access Google Play Store and the apps are exclusively designed for the big screen.

You can stream content from Amazon Prime Video, Disne+ Hotstar, Netflix, and much more to your Television. The Mi Box 4K, which was launched recently looks like a separate set-top box but the Mi TV Stick can be directly plugged to the HDMI port included with your TV. The product is identical to that of the erstwhile Google Chromecast.

Mi TV Stick Specifications

The Mi TV Stick works with the help of a Cortex-A53 processor, ARM Mali-450 graphics, 1GB RAM coupled with 8GB internal storage. The stick provides support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, and is pre-loaded with Android 9. The stick connects via the HDMI port on your TV, which is located on the rear side.

On the entertainment front, the TV Stick ships with support for Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, HBO, Spotify, Disney+ Hotstar, and much more. You can access more than 5000 apps via Google Play Store. The stick has the capability to stream FHD video content at 60fps. Moreover, the streaming stick provides support for VP9-10, H.265, H.264, VC-1, MPEG1/2/4 including Real 8/9/10. The product is bundled with a dedicated remote control with support for Google Assistant voice controls including Chromecast.

Mi TV Stick Pricing & Availability

The Mi TV Stick will be available for sale at 12 PM on August 7. As part of the launch offer, the stick will be up for grabs at INR 2799 instead of INR 3499. You can purchase via Flipkart, Mi.com, and Mi Home stores. Xiaomi has picked Flipkart instead of Amazon because of the existence of the Fire TV Stick.
