Microsoft has published the end of support and service dates for Surface devices. It is to be noted that Microsoft Surface devices are considered highly popular and has been tagged as premium Gadgets. Even though the Redmond-based software giant failed miserably in the Nokia Lumia segment, the company made a huge comeback with Microsoft Surface devices loaded with Windows. The company is ushing software updates for several Surface devices to enable people to experience new features. It’s now time to reveal that the service dates are coming to an end for most of the devices.
The service timeline for the Surface 3, Surface Pro 3, Surface Book, Surface Pro 4, Surface Book with performance base, Surface Studio, Surface Laptop, 5th Gen Surface Pro will end on November 13, 2021. While the service date for Surface Pro LTE will end on December 1, 2021, the Surface o support will finish on August 2, 2022. The service dates for Surface Studio 2, Surface Laptop 2 will end on October 2 and 16, 2022 respectively. You will not receive any support for the below devices on the dates mentioned against it.

- Surface Go with LTE Advanced – November 20, 2022
- Surface Laptop 3 – October 22, 2023
- Surface Pro 7 – October 22, 2023
- Surface Pro X – November 5, 2023
- Surface Go 2 – May 6, 2024
- Surface Book 3 – May 26, 2024
- Surface pro X SQ2 – October 13, 2024
- Surface Laptop Go – October 13, 2024
If you work with the above-mentioned devices, then it’s advisable to trade the devices for a brand new Surface since you won’t be able to avail any repair work after the date mentioned. If the device gets into a problem after the deadline date, then you will not be able to repair it. Microsoft has given ample time for you to prepare a course of action plan before the end of the service date.
You should only use the device as a paperweight. Even if you purchase a new Surface now, the company will end support after a while. This is a standard practice followed by all the companies because most of them would like to concentrate on offering support for new devices. After the end of the service period, you will not receive driver and firmware updates for the relevant devices. However, you will continue to receive Windows updates but will take a long time as part of a strategic project.
