Flock has announced several new features with an intention to simplify and smoothen Work At Home experience. The new features enable you to experience seamless communication across teams and departments. Some of the core new features of Flock are advanced search, dark theme on mobile, new emoji reactions, rich text formatting, and much more.
Dark Theme on Mobile
Flock has added sleeker and darker look that works across Windows, Linux, macOS, Android, and iOS. You should note that the dark theme was previously available only on PC app. The dark theme enables you to focus on your conversations that really matter. The dark theme is easy on the eyes even in low-light conditions and also extends the battery life of displays.
Advanced Search
With the help of the advanced search, you will be able to locate texts, polls, links, and tagged images. The advanced search also enables you to zero in on the right content with the ability to filter results and to arrow down on the messages.
Choose GIF send
With the help of Choose GID send, you can share Giphy either via original slash command or by attachment picker. If you type /giphy followed by a short message, a new search window will pop-up wherein you can select the GIF of your choice. If you would like to use the attachment picker, you should click on the + button on the left-hand side of the char bar. You should select the option named Giphy. You will view a new search window where you can select the GIF of your choice. You should search and select a Giphy of your choice.
New emoji reactions
Social media is not complete without an emoji. You should note that an emoji is worth a thousand words and making it easier for you to express yourself. The Flock reactions enable users to respond to a particular message with an emoji instead of a standard text response. Flock has 20 emoji reactions and is available in one-one chats including team channels.
Rich message formatting
Flock has been refreshed with a vibrant rich message formatting. You can now send text messages with the help of the new editing tools. You should first click on a channel/chat and then the message editor located at the bottom of the chat window. You should enter a message and click on the “Aa” icon on the bottom right. You will find several options such as Bold, Italics, Underlight, Font Colour, and Hyperlinks which can be used to format the text.
Swipe to reply feature
You can now swipe right on the message to reply on Flock for mobile devices. You just need to group, tap, and hold the message to reply privately to someone who sent a message in a group. You can also tap and hold the message and then tap Reply. You should enter your response and tap Send button.
