Google Adds Support For Multiple Indian Languages

Google has added support for multiple Indian languages in Google Maps, Google Search, and Lens. With over 22 official multiple Indian languages enshrined in the Constitution of India, it’s very challenging for Google to break the shackles of the language barrier. Google is currently working towards localization of its products and services in such a way that people in remote villages in India will be able to take advantage of the products. Google Maps in India will be available in 9 local languages that include Tamil, Gujarati, and Marathi. You can also easily swap between languages from within Google Search.

According to estimates, the total number of people who used Google Lens has doubled every month when compared with other regions in the World. Google is currently working to leverage Lens, which is designed to help students with solving Maths problems in Hindi.

Google also announced the release of MuRIL (Multilingual representations for Indian Languages), which is a new open-source multilingual AI/ML model. You can make use of the MuRIL to data, learnings, and knowledge of one language and apply it in another language. The launch of MuRIL is a step in the right direction towards the development of Indian language technologies. The aim of the company is to enable people to take advantage of the new technologies via both PC and mobile devices. You can download MuRIL from TensorFlow Hub.
