Microsoft has rolled out Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 21301 (RS_PRERELEASE) to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel. The update will be available for all Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel. Microsoft has improved the touch keyboard design in the Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 21301. The keyboard automatically switches to the Small Keyboard layout when undocking the keyboard. It’s possible to easily move the keyboard around with the help of the gripper region at the top of the keyboard.
The small and split layouts feature an updated symbol’s view based on the default layout. The Settings menu has been updated with a nested structure for improved clarity and less clutter. The Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 21301 features a new password feedback icon placed on the left side of the space bar when your control is in a password field. You can activate the visual keypress feedback on the touch keyboard.
Microsoft has made improvements to the default keyboard layout on 12-inch or larger screens with traditional keyboard layouts features an ESC, Tab, and Windows key. Windows 10 will not display five candidate bars maximum and centers them into position above the keyboard. That being said, the candidate bar improvement is yet to roll out but can be expected early next week. The new features are being pushed to select Windows Insiders in the Dev channel. This will help the product team to identify issues that could impact performance, stability, and reliability.
The Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 21301 has made changes so that when you right-click locally saved files displayed in jump lists, you will be able to change the option to Open File location. The N’ko keyboard layout has been updated to add access to currency and other symbols simply by tapping the keys along with the top row of your keyboard while holding the Shift key.
Microsoft also updated the Touchpad on/off toggle located under Settings | Devices | Touchpad so that it no longer requires admin privileges to change. The backend dictionaries have also been updated to enable improvement of spellchecking and text prediction relevance.
The Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 21301 has resolved an issue associated with the Taskbar context menu to avoid overlapping of news and interests. If news and interests consume 100 percent processing power, then the issue has been resolved. If the Task Manager crashes when switching to the Details tab, you will not notice the issue. If the Clock and Calendar flyout results in ShellExperienceHost making use of an excessive amount of CPU, then the problem has been resolved.
