Microsoft has rebranded Office Lens to Microsoft Lens with improved scanning functionalities. The Redmond-baed software giant has updated the logo of the app to equalize Microsoft 365 icons like OneDrive and OneNote. The usage of Office Lens became popular with the ban of Chinese-based mobile apps such as CamScanner.
Ever since the Chinese apps were banned, people have been making use of alternatives such as Adobe Scan and Office Lens. With the rebranding of Office Lens to Microsoft Lens, the company is aiming to target professional users. The name Microsoft itself gives the much-needed market share for the company.
Microsoft took to the official Microsoft 365 blog and revealed the news that they are changing the name from Office Lens to Microsoft Lens. The app logo has also been updated to resemble the likes of OneDrive and OneNote. The logo has been already updated on the Apple store. We expect the new logo to revolve around Android app within the next few days.
The Microsoft Lens has been updated with the ability to scan information into a contact, scan an image to text, and the capability to replicate a table in an image. The app also comes with an immersive reader coupled with a QR code scanner. The updated app also provides support for the ability to reorder pages.
You can also make required modifications to a PDF file that has been already scanned. The app also enables you to apply relevant filters to all images in a document. It’s now possible to scan PDFs with upto 100 pages. It’s also possible to choose whether you need to save PDFs locally or on cloud. The latest update will also add indicators to display which files are local or cloud-based.
The new features will be initially made available on Android followed by iOS. The Windows manufacturer will also integrate with other Microsoft 365 apps such as Office, Teams, Outlook and OneDrive.
